Dessie Horne Williams is a recently turned ninety year old retired English teacher who plied her in the Miami-Dade County Public System for thirty-two years. a 1957 graduate of Tallahassee's Florida A&M University, Ms. Williams is the divorced mother` of two biological adult children, a son Lynell Bernard Jordan and a daughter, Rosemarie Williams (deceased); additionally, Williams is also the "adopted" mother of her second cousin, Robert Louis Battle. A lover of all things artistic, Williams has devoted her life to the pursuit of the joys found in literature, music, and the performing arts, and considers a moment a sixties Q and A session when her screen idol Bette Davis answered her question one of the high points of her life. Currently residing in Miami, Florida. Williams is, and has been for the past sixty years, the minister of music at Miami's Wactor Temple African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
