Halil Bárcena (Renedo, Cantabria, 1962) es islamólogo y especialista en mística sufí. Licenciado en ciencias de la información, diplomado en lengua árabe, máster en estudios árabes y diploma de estu-dios avanzados en humanidades, ha cursado estudios islámicos y de filología árabe y persa en Marruecos, Jordania, el Líbano y Siria. Formado en musicología árabe-turca, es intérprete de ney --la flauta derviche de caña. También cultiva la caligrafía árabe. Colabora con la Universidad de Barcelona. En 1998 fundó el Instituto de Estudios Sufíes de Barcelona, que dirige desde entonces. Dirige también el grupo de música y danza sufí 'Ushâq. Es autor de la monografía El sufisme (Fragmenta, 2008), cuya versión española --ampliada--, Sufismo, se publicó en 2012 también por Fragmenta. También es autor de de la traducción de Diwan, de Hal-lag (Fragmenta, 2010), una edición bilingüe árabe-catalán caligrafiada a mano por él mismo. Además, es coautor --con Marià Corbí-- de Jesús de Nazaret, el mito y el sabio. Una lectura del Evangelio de Juan desde una espiritualidad laica y desde el sufismo (2010). En 2015 publicó Historias de Nasrudín, en la colección Pequeño Fragmenta, con ilustraciones de Mariona Cabassa. Es asesor de la colección Sagrats i Clàssics de Fragmenta. Que yo recuerde, siempre he dibujado, aunque acostumbro a decir que podría haber sido ceramista, pastelera, joyera, florista..., cualquier profesión que me permitiera expresarme artísticamente y trabajar con las manos. Empecé estudiando diseño gráfico a la escuela Massana, pero un par de años más tarde comprendí que necesitaba más pinceles, más lápices y menos pantallas de ordenador. Después fui a Estrasburgo para aprender sobre ilustración y grabado. Me dedico desde hace bastantes años a dibujar libros para niños. Cuando no dibujo bailo, que es mi otra pasión. Halil Bárcena (Renedo, Cantabria, 1962) is an Islamic scholar and expert in Sufi mysticism. He holds a degree in information sciences, a diploma in Arabic language, a master's in Arab studies, and an advanced diploma in humanities. He has studied Islamic theology and Arabic and Persian philology in Morocco, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. Trained in Arab-Turkish musicology, he is a performer of the ney--the dervish reed flute--and also practices Arabic calligraphy. He collaborates with the University of Barcelona. In 1998, he founded the Barcelona Institute of Sufi Studies, which he has directed ever since. He also leads the Sufi music and dance group Ushâq. He is the author of the monograph El sufisme (Fragmenta, 2008), whose expanded Spanish version, Sufismo, was published in 2012 by the same publisher. Mariona Cabassa (Barcelona, 1977). I was born and live in Barcelona. As far as I can remember, I've always drawn, though I often say I could have been a ceramist, baker, jeweler, florist... any profession that would allow me to express myself artistically and work with my hands. I began studying graphic design at the Massana School, but a couple of years later, I realized I needed more brushes, more pencils, and fewer computer screens. I then went to Strasbourg to learn more about illustration and printmaking. I've been illustrating children's books for quite a few years now. When I'm not drawing, I dance--that's my other passion.
