The title of this work you have undertaken is: "One step taken, one step left behind". We are always moving forward in the journey of life, the 'step taken' is a symbol of success and progress. But in our rush towards success, have we lost the 'Gejje', the metaphor of morality, affection and simplicity that was our foundation? This question is the inspiration behind this work. Each chapter here is a search for those values: On one hand, there is the satirical story of Yuvaraja Alasyananda Jadeshwar at the height of modernity - a mirror of the laziness and inertia that pervades our society. On the other hand, there is the honesty of a ninjan who stands alone among a mere three crore people. The story questions the moral gap between the one who takes a crossroad with a certificate and the one who earns a living by doing his job as a labourer. Amidst all this, stories of disillusioned love (Pagal Premi) and personal poems about the love of a mother's heart, the solid foundation of life, touch our emotions. I have tried to tell these stories only in the form of humor and satire. However, the purpose behind it is the same: to remember the values that we have lost on the path of our progress, but should not lose.
