The aim of the study was to identify and quantify hospital waste in the Les Volcans district, with a view to proposing a suitable management method in the city of Goma, in order to maintain a healthy environment for the benefit of current and future generations. To achieve this, a data collection system was set up at each hospital, supported by a survey questionnaire to gather information on waste management. This led to the following results: 24 types of waste were identified at HPNK and 23 at HHA Goma. The most common type of waste is degradable waste, with 16 types. The average quantities are 208.27 kg with a CV of 20.43% for HPNK and 167.67 Kg with a CV of 21.9%, which shows that there are considerable variations between the weeks of the month.Hospital waste management is a real problem in HPNK and HHA. Continuous training and staff awareness-raising are among the strategies to be implemented for rational hospital waste management in these facilities.
