J. Wayne Fears is a wildlife management professional, explorer, author, and former editor of Rural Sportsmen magazine. Fears has written more than 6,200 articles for the Southern Sportsman Journal, Turkey Call magazine, Great Days Outdoor magazine, Whitetails Unlimited Magazine, and a number of other publications. He has thirty-three published books and has won numerous awards including “Best Outdoor Book of the Year” three times and the “Pinnacle Award” for outdoor books two times. Fears has served as president of the Professional Outdoor Media Association, the Georgia Outdoor Writers Association, and the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association, and is a member of the Explorers Club. He built his own log cabin almost twenty-three years ago and has been enjoying it ever since.
