Even as a kid growing up in New York, Marlene Rhein had an incredible imagination and gift as a storyteller. She earned a Rod Serling Screenwriting Scholarship to Ithaca College and after graduation moved to Hollywood with nothing but a suitcase, forty dollars in her pocket, and the will and determination to succeed as a filmmaker. Not long after arriving, she was directing big-budget music videos for icons like 2Pac Shakur and Amy Winehouse and transferred that success into writing, directing and co-starring in her first theatrically released feature film "The Big Shot-Caller". As one of the "Top 25 New Faces of Independent Film" from Filmmaker Magazine, Marlene has continued to push the envelope in new formats with the creation of several self-starring web series including "My Parents Are Crazier Than Yours", "Angry Gladys", and "I Don't Care About The Assholes." She won the "Best Actress" award at the Long Island Film Festival for her short film "Let Me Tell You A Story," and recently won the "Best Director" award in LA for her web series, "The So-So You Don't Know," a dark comedy about urban loneliness. The show featured on Fox5 News Prime Time with Ernie Anastos, where Marlene spoke about the epidemics of isolation and depression as reflected in her filmmaking. With three feature scrips in the fundraising stage, Marlene has turned her attention to releasing a debut book of poetry. HOW TO FIND GOD ON THE DANCE FLOOR is as raw, vulnerable and truthful as it comes in regards to a love of music and finding self worth through movement.marlenerhein.com
