This is an investigation on the impact of tourism on the hydrobiology and water quality parameters of a reservoir-Lake, Mullaperiyar. This is an old man made lake opened in the year 1895 to irrigate the agricultural fields of the nearby state Tamilnadu. The dam was constructed at the confluence of Mullayar and Periyar during the Travancore dynasty. This was located inside the world famous Periyar Tiger Reserve. It is in the Western ghats of Kerala at an altitude of 881mts from mean sea level. This protected area is having unique and precious flora and fauna. It is an international tourist centre. This is the first study on the waters of Mullaperiyar. All the prevailing conditions of the unique water, microflora etc. are well explained in this book. It also emphasizes how to properly manage this ecosystem without degradation.
