These are (mostly) real stories about a small-town cop. Hundreds of movies have been made and even more books written about big city police departments with their large drug task forces and unlimited resources. These stories are about the one-man department and how the author is forced to work without up-to-date equipment, when backup might not exist and how he survives when training is limited by budgetary constraints. I want the reader to see into the life of the small-town cop through a series of short stories. I hope to show how this occupation can transform one's personal life, from its effects on marriage to the uncomfortable times with friends and of course the dangerous calls on the streets. Through these stories the reader will gain an understanding of the commitment required to be successful in law enforcement and hopefully be informed and entertained. I was a cop, working in a small town. Really the town was about as small as one could get. I was a one-man police department in a bedroom mountain community; I was the Blue River Marshal.
