Inspired by a true story, Ickee Kitty: A Story of Bravery, Recovery, and Love follows a tiny sick kitten found on the steps of a veterinarian clinic amidst the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the two families who helped him heal, grow, and thrive. The kitten's future looked grim until Doc Kelly, a dedicated veterinarian and the author's sister, stepped in. Through care, treatment, and unwavering hope, he began to heal. Named Ickee Kitty for his rough beginnings, he blossomed into a beautiful cat. Once strong and thriving, he found his forever home with the author's family, where he was loved by their children, played with the grandchildren, and bonded with all their animals, including becoming best friends with their cat, Junior Kitty. For over two decades, Ickee Kitty brought joy, companionship, and love, always at the heart of every family moment. This is a touching true story of survival, resilience, and the deep bond between animals and the people who love them.
Autorenporträt
Veronica Christine has always believed that every animal has a story worth telling-and she's made it her mission to bring those stories to life. Raised in the suburbs of northern Illinois, she grew up with a big heart for animals and a wild imagination to match. After a career in healthcare, life took an unexpected turn when a rare autoimmune disease affected her vision. But instead of giving up, the author leaned into a lifelong dream: finishing a story she had started years before-one inspired by a very sick kitten who, against all odds, grew into a beautiful cat and beloved companion for over nineteen years. With the support of her family, she was able to bring that dream to life.A proud mother of two and grandmother of six, she cherishes time with her family-especially playing games and doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren. Though most live far away, her stories are a way to stay connected-a legacy of love, hope, and resilience she hopes will live on for generations. This is her first book, with more heartfelt stories already in progress, inspired by the animals she has rescued and loved.
