How much can our actions - and inactions - really matter? The Antelope Hill Publishing 2025 Writing Competition explored the theme of the consequences of one's decisions, offering participants, and now readers, a chance to reflect on the nature of causes and effects, and the relationship between them on the individual and collective level. On an individual level, our choices define our lives, achievements, failures, and legacy. On a civilizational level, they reach through generations, and can ultimately mean the difference between collective glory and dishonor, life and death. Ultimately our history is made up of an innumerable number of individual decisions, a process in which every one of us participates each day. The short stories and poems collected here call us to consider the prize of action, and price of inaction, summed up with the question: If Not Us, Who?
