Janel Rodriguez is a "Nuyorican" -- that is, a Puerto Rican born and raised in New York City. Janel has previously written books and articles about Latina and Black American SHEroes and enjoys writing children's fiction, too. When she isn't tapping away on her laptop, she can be found making art -- especially drawing or painting portraits of people. Makenzie McCarthy spent her childhood immersed in art. After graduating from the University of Hawaii with a degree in creative writing she then got her masters in Elementary Education. She devotes her time to the creation of children's books that not only stimulate children's imaginations but represent children from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
