This book investigates the impact of balanced cantilever bridge construction on the deformations and stresses of prestressed concrete bridges. Its specific scientific contributions are the preparation and execution of rare on-site measurements on the Vranduk 1 and Vranduk 2 bridges during construction, and the subsequent numerical simulations based on this data. The study found that a sophisticated material model, which incorporates long-term effects like temperature, creep, and shrinkage, can accurately simulate the real-world behavior of the structure. The results confirm a good match between measured and numerical data. This doctoral thesis provides valuable data for creating new and refining existing numerical models. Ultimately, the presented findings offer practical guidelines for designers, contractors, and project managers, aiming to optimize construction methods, increase safety, and improve efficiency in balanced cantilever bridge projects.
