The purpose of this study was to investigate the Role of Information Dissemination in Addressing Obstetric Fistula in Rural Areas, Tanzania: A Case Study of Mpwapwa District, Dodoma Region. The rural community, particularly girls and women in Tanzania lack access to information on the prevention, early management and treatment of Obstetric Fistula. Most of them do not know that Obstetric Fistula can be cured and in any case they lack the necessary resources to pay for transport and surgery. Obstetric Fistula victims need information to enable them to increase their capacity for prevention, diagnosis, infection control, early catheter treatment and adequate fluid intake. Lack of information, poverty and poor transport infrastructure are the major limitations to Obstetric Fistula treatment and prevention for women and girls in rural areas.
