The inclusion of people with disabilities is not limited to enrolling them, but provides the necessary support for them to actively develop, both cognitively and linguistically, in terms of their autonomy, skills, identity and contextualised knowledge of the world. An example of inclusive education for people with disabilities is the Maré Latina Project in Rio de Janeiro, under the direction and pedagogical coordination of Aline Melo. In this project, underprivileged children with and without disabilities participate in various workshops, such as: production of children's stories, short films and Spanish, with face-to-face or distance learning classes. Currently, in partnership with the 'Fã Clube Latinidade Enrique Iglesias Brasil' (Enrique Iglesias Brazil Latin Fan Club), children with and without disabilities receive Latin dance lessons with teacher Graciano Cunha. The Maré Latina Project was recognised in 2016, receivingthe Local Action Award/RJ from Mayor Eduardo Paes, with the book and short film 'Thalia no reino das Fadas' (Thalia in the Fairy Kingdom), starring two-year-old child actress Thalia Melo.
