The book presents the author's long term reflections upon his over three decades of learning, research and teaching in Singapore, Canada, America, Taiwan and Malaysia. The book also presents the author's short term reflections upon his three years teaching experience at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus from 2011 to 2014. Among the short term strategies proposed are interactions between instructor and students, integration of multimedia technology into teaching, write to learn approach, problem solving approach, active learning approach and multidisciplinary curricula. Among the long term strategies proposed are taking courses on teaching and writing of textbooks and memoirs.

Jimmy Teng ist außerordentlicher Professor am Harbin Institute of Technology und Fellow der Higher Education Academy (Großbritannien). Er war an der Nanyang Technological University, der Academia Sinica, der nationalen Universität Taiwan und der Universität Nottingham tätig. Er promovierte in Wirtschaftswissenschaften an der Universität Toronto und in Politikwissenschaften an der Universität Duke.
