The title of this book designates three human realities without concrete existence, namely, intellection, knowing and saying, which give rise to the activity of speaking, which manifests itself in the linguistic act, the only reality that has concrete existence. Speaking as well as intellection, knowing and saying constitute the raison d'être of the linguistic act. Speaking is therefore a very complex reality. The human faculty of speaking involves a series of faculties that can be described as nine types of activities that human beings perform daily in their relations with the members of a linguistic community, their co-speakers, in the linguistic act. Consequently, the linguistic act, despite its name, is not the representative of a single activity, the activity of speaking, but of a whole set of realities or points of view that can be analyzed and summarized within every linguistic act, be it long or short.
