Interpreting Hardy: A Darwinian Perspective is intended to redress the prevailing readings of Hardy as pessimistic. Hardy's tendency to gravitate towards issues pertaining to death and loss is undeniably true but to what end? The Darwinian Theory of Evolution aptly describes life and death as an intergral process for better things to come. This book investigates the extent to which Hardy was influenced by this school of thought. And in doing so, a positive reading of Hardy can be derived.
