Ensuring universal access, comprehensive care, decentralised management and social control are principles of the SUS. Intersectorality, a guideline of the Family Health Strategy and a health management-care-promotion practice, has been overcoming the fragmentation of actions by articulating public policies that respond to social inequalities and inequities. Scholars on the subject point to positive results, which stimulate health care and promote the principle of equity. The political and technical weight of intersectoral action in decision-making is important.
