The author, Darcy Guyant, is a retired U. S. Coast Guard HH65 Dolphin helicopter pilot. This story is based on a real-life rescue mission performed by Darcy and his crew.
Darcy Guyant is a retired U.S. Coast Guard Commander and helicopter pilot with thousands of flight hours in search and rescue missions. He served in both the Army and Coast Guard, where he developed a deep respect for teamwork, responsibility, and courage.After his military career, Mr. Darcy turned to writing children's books, combining his love of aviation with his passion for education. He volunteers regularly in elementary schools, reading aloud and helping students build strong reading skills.Mr. Darcy's books are designed to entertain, inspire, educate, and encourage young readers to explore flight, science, and the importance of helping others.
