Aly I. El-Kadi earned his Ph.D. in Groundwater Hydrology from Cornell University's School of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Ithaca, New York. He currently serves as Professor Emeritus in the Earth Sciences Department and the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) at the University of Hawaii (UH). His teaching and academic focus were on hydrology and groundwater modeling. His research addressed critical areas such as the impact of climate change on water resource sustainability, numerical modeling of groundwater systems, and the simulation of multiphase flow and hydrocarbon transport. His work addressed the growing pressure on Hawaii's coastal aquifers due to population growth, economic development, and climate change. He also contributed to research in American Samoa and Jeju Island, Korea. He is the author or co-author of approximately 170 publications, including two edited books. His career highlights include serving as the Associate Director at WRRC, which focuses on water resource challenges in Hawaii, American Samoa, and other Pacific islands.
