Jeffrey Jordan grew up in luxury and privilege in Rawlings, Washington, as a member of a prominent family and the nephew of the town's founder. He attended Washington State College but found that liquor and women suited his desires more than studying. When his parents discovered that he had been squandering the money they sent for tuition and room rent, they refused to pay any more and wrote him out of their will.In desperation to escape some loan sharks, he joined the army and was forced to serve as an ambulance driver during the First World War. While in France, he met a young woman from his hometown who came from a less prosperous family. Despite their differences, they were drawn together and developed an intense love for each other.Eventually, they were both sent home, married, and were able to repair the rift between themselves and their families. This is a story about a young man raised in privilege who fell from grace, but with love, understanding, and persistence, he picked himself up and became an upstanding member of his community.
