Autorenporträt
Born in Hong Kong, Kue Young came to Canada to attend McGill University, earning a medical degree in 1973. He volunteered as a CUSO volunteer to train rural health workers in Tanzania. Returning to Canada in 1980, he was appointed medical director in Sioux Lookout Zone, Ontario, which led to his lifelong dedication to Indigenous and Northern health in Canada and the circumpolar regions of the world, focusing on emerging chronic diseases such as diabetes. After working as department head at the University of Manitoba, in 2002 he arrived at the University of Toronto and led a program devoted to the training of Indigenous researchers, and in 2013 he was appointed Dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta. Retired, he lives in Fernie, British Columbia.
