Juha features the Everyman character that holds a mirror to society's foibles and falsehoods. The book is a translation of Juha's oriental anecdotes that are a product of national consciousness of the Arab mind. Juha's tales and jokes are echoes of contemporary caricatures to decode profound socio-political messages. The study investigates the underlying mechanisms of humour by presenting a scientific analysis of the conversational implicature that causes laughter, an enterprise that can provide a comprehensive background to understand Juha's folk anecdotes. In a word, Juha is the magnificent Arab mouthpiece: he is the wise, the fool, the philosopher, the preacher, and the sharp satirist.
