Jomo W. Mutegi has jumped from a plane at over the Velds of South Africa, braved the rushing rapids of the Cheat River, raced down the slopes of Colorado mountains, and explored monuments on the Giza Plateau. Yet his greatest adventure is that of a husband, father and educator. A professor of science education, Jomo studies how children learn science. He founded Black Kids Read to develop children's book and curriculum materials that tackle challenging, social and science-related topics.
