Kan Otake (born May 21, 1983 in Saitama Prefecture, Japan) is a Nippon Professional Baseball pitcher for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in Japan's Central League. Otake attended Urawa Gakuin High School in Saitama, Saitama. He never pitched in a national high-school tournament, but was selected for the Japanese national team in the 2000 World Junior Baseball Championship. In 2001, he was drafted by Hiroshima Toyo Carp by first-round pick. Nippon Professional Baseball or NPB is the highest level of baseball in Japan. Locally, it is often called Puro Yaky , meaning Professional Baseball. Outside of Japan, it is often just referred to as "Japanese baseball".
