Louisa May Alcott (1832-1888) was a renowned American novelist and author best known for her beloved novel Little Women. Born in Germantown, Pennsylvania, she grew up in Concord, Massachusetts. Alcott's works explored themes of family, womanhood, and societal norms, reflecting her own experiences. Her writing career blossomed during the Civil War, where she served as a nurse in the Union Hospital. Her experiences there became the subject of her nonfiction work, Hospital Sketches.
