The rehabilitation of edentulous patients has been the main focus of dentistry today. The installation of implants as an aid in the support and retention of prostheses has emerged as a safe treatment option, allowing for greater predictability. However, several aspects need to be observed and clarified in order to achieve successful therapy. This study sought to identify the knowledge and expectations of patients undergoing dental implant treatment at the Army General Hospital in Salvador, Bahia, in addition to outlining the socioeconomic profile of the clientele, relating these characteristics to tooth loss.
