Mehar Singh Garib was recognized for his close work and affiliation with Mother Theresa's Missionaries of Charity in aiding Kolkata's poverty-stricken and destitute population. He was amongst the dignitaries interviewed by CNN at her 1997 Indian state funeral in Kolkata.
