Krystal is the granddaughter of the late Sikh social and political activist, Mehar Singh Garib, who founded the Khalsa English Highschool, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and Gurdwara Sant Kutia in Kolkata, India. Mehar Singh Garib was recognized for his close work and affiliation with Mother Theresa's Missionaries of Charity in aiding Kolkata's poverty-stricken and destitute population. He was amongst the dignitaries interviewed by CNN at her 1997 Indian state funeral in Kolkata.
