The Magna Carta is one of the most transcendent medieval texts has had over the centuries. Shamelessly used by fascists, communists, democrats, religious and parliamentarians not even understand the document in context, it represents one of the landmarks of the British parliamentarism, probably due more to the myth generated around it than its real meaning. This paper is an approach to document and to political and social circumstances that gave birth, based on the latest and increasingly extensive research on it. Our goal in this study is simply to provide an overview of the historical circumstances surrounding the creation of the Magna Carta, to relate it to other letters of privilege arose in Europe at that time and consider their political influence over the centuries.
