The author uncovers festering wounds and cruelly rubs them in where all agreements are broken. An important factor in this book is humor. Humor is both defense and attack. Velázquez points, stabs, apostrophizes, swallows, vomits, and entertains. I maintain that a narrator with instinct produces texts with multiple signals that expand the meaning of his literary discourse, and it seems to me that Carlos belongs to this group.

Gracias a los libros La marrana negra de la literatura rosa y La Biblia Vaquera (votado como uno de los libros más recomendados de la década 2009-2019 por la revista Nexos) es considerado uno de los mejores cuentistas de su generación. Como cronista ganó el Premio Bellas Artes de Narrativa Colima por El pericaz Sarniento (selfie con cocaína) . Publica la columna Carlos Velázquez. Norestense hasta el tope, nació en Torreón en 1978.
