The first short story written and published by Peter Gatenby, in 2023 Married by Lunchtime is a light-hearted romance with a few unusual twists and turns. The next volume, La Nuit a Therouanne, is another book of fiction, about the struggle to bring to justice a rapist and murderer. Both these stories are fictional, but cleverly keep the reader wondering until the last few pages how the issues raised will be resolved. The third St Columba's seat and a Touch of Serendipity was written with the aim of having a story that had happy events. There are good, kind intelligent, children out there, so let's celebrate when dreams come true. Soon Peter hopes to be publishing the story of his great aunts who went to Singapore on Friday 13th February 1925. This family history took nearly 10 years of research. Based on just one album of pictures taken in 1925/6 and an anecdote told by Peter's mother, the story weaves in background historical events in the early to mid-20th Century. It also tries to uncover the truth of the story of unrequited love. His final volumes will be about his long-distance walks first to the extremities of the British mainland and subsequent treks to the inter-cardinal points.
