A forbidden love. A daring rescue. A woman's fight for survival. Maria Von Eickler defies Nazi rule to save an American pilot, but her courage comes at a devastating price in this gripping World War II saga. In 1945 Austria, Maria Von Eickler faces an impossible choice: maintain her silence or risk everything to help a downed American pilot. Her decision catapults her into a nightmare of betrayal, imprisonment, and a desperate battle for survival at the infamous Castle Itter. As Nazi forces close in and hope dwindles, Maria finds unexpected allies among her fellow prisoners, including former French politicians and a surprising protector in an SS officer from her past. This meticulously researched historical novel brings to life one of World War II's most extraordinary yet overlooked stories. Will Maria survive the brutal final days of Nazi rule? Can she protect those she loves as the Third Reich crumbles around her? Her journey from privileged aristocrat to resistance fighter unfolds against the backdrop of a castle that holds both her greatest fears and her last chance at survival. As the Allied forces advance, Maria must summon every ounce of courage to face what lies ahead.
