Doc, I am worried sick about Lily," Dyann said as I listened on the phone. "She has been vomiting since last night. It is so bad now that everything that goes in comes right back up.""Has she gotten into anything that you know about?" I asked."No, that is what has me so worried," Dyann said. "She hasn't been out of the house, and there is nothing in here that she could have gotten.""It sounds like we better get a look at her," I said. ~ from "Lily's Nylabone" - ¬Lambs and Crab Legs Following the success of Last Cow in the Chute and Widow Woman's Ranch, Dr. David Larsen continues his Memoirs of a Country Vet series with Lambs and Crab Legs & other stories. This second edition includes additional stories of skillfully written accounts of his life as a country veterinarian in the 1970s and 1980s. These stories begin in Enumclaw, Washington, and continue to his own one-vet clinic in Sweet Home, Oregon, where for over forty years his medical attention, expertise, and wisdom in often immediate life-and-death situations were sought with a phone call at any time of the day, every day of the week.
Autorenporträt
Dr. David E. Larsen grew up on a farm in the Coquille River Valley of Southwestern Oregon. Animals and their care have always been a big part of his life from the time he was young, but it took four years in the Army to give him the maturity he needed to complete his education. He graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in zoology, then attended Colorado State University and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1975 at age thirty. With a growing family, he moved first to Enumclaw, Washington, then moved to Sweet Home, Oregon, and started the Sweet Home Veterinary Clinic, and practiced there for over forty years before he retired. Today he spends his time with his family, writing and doing a little fishing. Interested in seeing much more of Oregon and the rest of this country, Dave and his wife, Sandy, are eager to travel when they can.
