Scientific Essay from the year 2010 in the subject Physics - Technical Physics, , language: English, abstract: The Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique is a way of making ultrathin nanostructured filmswith a controlled layer structure and crystal parameter, which have many envisioned applications intechnology for optical and molecular electronic devices as well as in signal processing andtransformation. LB films have a unique potential for controlling the structure of organized matter onthe ultimate scale of miniaturization, and must surely find a niche where this potential is fulfilled. Inthis review paper the early development, technology and present status of LB film research and keypapers are referred to.
