This book analyzes the importance of oral literature and the problems involved in collection and analysis of oral literature data. Oral narratives of the Lamu people, who are a sub-group of the Swahili, are analyzed in terms of language use. The language is analyzed at four levels: phonology, lexis, syntax and semantics.
