Initially trained as a lawyer, he shifted to journalism, covering significant events like the 1905 Russian Revolution. His vivid storytelling and investigative skills in journalism laid the groundwork for his later success as a novelist.In 1907, Leroux transitioned to fiction, publishing The Mystery of the Yellow Room, one of the earliest and most celebrated locked-room mysteries. His most famous work, The Phantom of the Opera (1909), showcased his mastery of blending suspense, romance, and gothic elements. Leroux also collaborated with filmmaker Arthur Bernède, founding a company to adapt novels into films, merging literature with emerging cinematic art.Leroux's innovative storytelling influenced both literature and film, with his works inspiring numerous adaptations. He passed away on April 15, 1927, in Nice, France, leaving behind a legacy as a pioneer in detective and gothic fiction. His imaginative tales continue to captivate audiences worldwide, cementing his place in literary history.
