Meredith Downes is a children's author and illustrator from Brisbane, Australia. She has always had a passion for Australian wildlife - from the river turtle she played with as a kid to the boobook owl she befriended at university to all the wild and wonderful creatures she has met here and there in her travels across the country. She loves nothing more than to let them all crawl, fly and hop into her stories and artwork to become the heroes, sidekicks and rogues she imagines them to be.
