This volume brings together for the first time in critical edition a careful translation of the first two sections of the Samyutta Nikaya, one of the oldest and most valuable collections of the Pali Canon, dating back to 29 B.C., approximately 454 years after the death of Gautama Buddha. Written in the Pali language on palm leaves, this book translates into English the Devata Samyutta and Devaputta Samyutta, two sets of sutras that transmit the dialogues, conversations and teachings of Buddha with the devas and other Indian gods such as Vishnu, Kassapa or Tayana, among others. The Buddhist concept of divinity is expressed in all its nuances through these texts, as well as the ideas that this religion received from Hinduism, its ethical values and spiritual principles.
