Rajana Swamy (Raj) was born with mild disabilities of cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Due to these disabilities he has lived a challenging life facing barriers such as discrimination, lack of confidence by others, and social inclusion issues. However, thanks to the way he was brought up by his parents, and the encouragement he often gets from family and friends, Raj has been successful in overcoming most of these problems. Though health professionals felt he couldnt do tertiary education, by understanding his own capabilities Raj was able to get a Bachelor of Commerce in economics and management, and a Master of International Business. Raj has had a diverse career path and worked in several sectors, such as health and disability, which included advocacy, as well as corporate, and supply chain management in which he currently works. Through persistence he was able to get into the area he had hoped for whilst studying commerce. Plus, having lived in several countries, including those, such as the Philippines where there are high levels of poverty, Raj realised how fortunate he has been despite the struggles he encountered. With his passion of writing poems, through his teenage and adult life Raj expressed his experiences and feelings.
