This study analyzed the concepts of Literacy and Literacy in the early years of elementary school, highlighting their interrelationships and relevance in the educational context. The aim was to improve the teaching-learning process, emphasizing the essential role of the school and the educator, whose pedagogical practices are fundamental to success in the classroom. The research sought to conceptualize literacy and literacy, investigating the importance of these processes and the positive impact of pedagogical practices on teaching and learning. The methodology was qualitative, using a questionnaire applied to early years teachers. The instrument aimed to capture perceptions of these processes, based on authors such as Ferreiro (1996), Soares (2004, 2017), Morais (2007) and Tfouni (2006). The results revealed diverse perceptions of the relationship between literacy and literacy, reinforcing the importance of pedagogical practices. The study contributed to reflections on the need for practices in line with contemporary educational demands.
