Produktbeschreibung
Lover or Friend delves into the relationships and evolving dynamics between two families, the Ross family and the Blake family, against the backdrop of societal expectations in the early 20th century. The story primarily focuses on the lively and impulsive Audrey Ross, her more reserved sister Geraldine, and the recently arrived widow Mrs. Blake and her children, who contrast with the Ross family's lifestyle. At the outset of the novel, we are introduced to the Ross family's discussions and impressions of the Blakes, who are new to the community. Audrey's spirited and impulsive nature leads her to visit the Blakes to offer help, a stark contrast to her cautious sister, who remains more reserved in her approach. As the narrative progresses, it explores themes of social propriety, family loyalty, and the development of new friendships amid societal constraints and personal conflicts. Audrey's initial encounter with the Blakes, along with her sister's more sceptical observations, lays the groundwork for future emotional developments and character growth. The story examines the complexities of relationships, personal choices, and societal norms.
