It is known from the United States (New York). The larvae feed on Fraxinus pennsylvanica. They mine in the stem of their host plant. They are restricted to the main stem at the base of the tree and the root collar. A moth is an insect closely related to the butterfly, both being of the order Lepidoptera. Moths form the majority of this order; there are thought to be 150,000 to 250,000 different species of moth (about ten times the number of species of butterfly), with thousands of species yet to be described.
