The monograph is devoted to the study of the hardness of U12A steel using the Berkovich pyramid indentation method. The paper presents detailed results of experiments and analyses carried out at different levels of material hardness: 500 HV 10 and 790 HV 10.The monograph covers in detail a comprehensive approach to the determination of Martens hardness in the nano- and micro-range, focusing on both the theoretical aspects of indentation (including determining load ranges, constructing indentation diagrams, and calculating contact area) and the practical measurement tools (description of samples, equipment, features of measuring instruments and software).Particular attention is paid to the construction and interpretation of indentation diagrams, as well as methods for calculating Martens hardness. The research demonstrates how the mechanical properties of U12A steel change depending on the conditions used and the capabilities of the analysis methods. The conclusions indicate the significance of the data obtained for further use in industry and research. The monograph will be useful for engineers, metallurgists and researchers working in the field of materials science.
