Seit Bob Katz zehn Jahre alt ist, spielt er B-Klarinette, und seine lebenslange Liebe für Sound und Musik hat dazu geführt, dass er (seit 1971) professioneller Aufnahme-, Mixing- und Mastering-Engineer geworden ist. Er engagiert sich als Zeitschriften-Kolumnist und hat zahllose Fachartikel und Testberichte für Audio- und Computermagazine geschrieben. Von ihm entwickelte Prozessoren und Zubehör-Werkzeuge verrichten ihren Dienst in Mastering-Studios auf der ganzen Welt. Seine patentierten Erfindungen, K-Stereo und K-Surround, füllen eine Lücke in der Mastering- und Post-Production-Signalkette. Seine Seminare und Workshops werden von Toningenieuren weltweit besucht. Bob ist Inhaber der bei Orlando in Florida gelegenen Digital Domain Studios, wo er Musik aller Stilrichtungen für große und Independent Labels mastert.
