The book describes methods for measuring the spatial and energy charac-teristics of laser radiation using grating receivers. Gratings from thin wires are placed on the path of the laser beam. Planes of the gratings are perpendicular to the beam axis. The number of gratings is at least four. Each element of the grating (a bolometer) is heated by the radiation and changes its resistance in proportion to the radiation intensity at the bolometer's location. The mathematical processing of the signals from the bolometers is similar to that used in computed tomography.Grating receivers make it possible to measure:- the power and pulse energy of the radiation;- the beam profile;- the beam diameter;- the coordinates of the beam's energy center;- the polarization characteristics of the radiation.
