The aim of this thesis is to present the level of knowledge of sixth-semester radiology technology students at FH Campus Wien. A questionnaire is used to find out how students recognise metal artefacts and whether they can name metal reduction measures. The advantages and disadvantages of metal artefact reduction measures are highlighted. Studies from the Springer, Pubmed and Science Direct databases were selected as the basis for this thesis. The websites of Siemens, Philips and Toshiba were used for further research. Studies from 2010 to 2015 were selected in order to present the latest developments. The results show that metal artefacts can be recognised by sixth-semester radiology technology students at the FH Campus Wien based on their striped and star-shaped structure. The extended Hounsfield scale, dual energy CT, algorithms and parameter adjustment have been mentioned as metal artefact reduction measures.
