Nothing kept Yosef Coen in his native Aleppo. The civil war had taken away all his loved ones and his destiny awaited far away, thousands of kilometers from the horror and pain of reliving. After crossing the border into hostile Turkey, the path of this Sephardic Jew, a doctor by profession, crosses that of the beautiful Yasmina, a nurse and Sufi Muslim, who is compelled to share his flight with him in search of a place to start anew. Thus their story is born. United by the same resolute longing for freedom, Yosef and Yasmina embark on a journey that will take them through several countries until they find themselves in front of the Great Lady who welcomes the homeless in New York. Their journey, which will familiarize them with cultures of all kinds and people from all walks of life, will make them confront the most bitter and hardest face of the world with a kinder, more generous and welcoming one, and in it they will have the opportunity to verify, stripped by force of misgivings and conventionalisms, the powerful force of a love that has become a creed.
