With the help of veterinarians at a nearby aquatic center, who name him Mahi, he is slowly nursed back to health. The staff named him Mahi, which means "mighty". They help Mahi relearn to dive and eat with only three flippers. After two years, he finally heals completely and is released back into the ocean.

Suzanne Jacobs Lipshaw is a nonfiction children's book author and an elementary special education teacher who is passionate about growing young minds through her teaching and writing. Her second nonfiction picture book, Mighty Mahi, launches September 2022 from Doodle and Peck Publishing. The proud momma of two grown boys, Suzanne lives in Waterford, MI with her husband and furry writing companion Ziggy.
