Despite the fact that only a fraction of fungal species are pathogenic to humans, they are responsible for significant degree of morbidity and mortality (Pfaller and Diekema 2004; Srinivasan et al. 2014). Most fungal infections are predominantly caused by Candida, Cryptococcus and Aspergillus species.
