Monster Planet, Monster Truck! was inspired by my son. He went through a phase in his early childhood where he was obsessed with monster trucks and the planet Jupiter. He would often refer to his monster truck house on Jupiter. His monster truck was the ultimate problem solver. Nothing seemed impossible at his monster truck house! His stories made me think about what we would need to do to live on Jupiter. While this is a work of fiction, I wanted the scientific foundations for supporting life to be as plausible as possible. I have included some additional information at the end of the book to give details on the science behind some of the ideas in the book. JoAnne Swihart started her career as a scientist then turned entrepreneur. After having children she was inspired by them to write stories mirroring their incredible imaginations and common childhood struggles.
